ASQ SAFEGUARDING POLICY

This policy applies to all staff of ASQ Construction Services Limited, including senior managers, all department and departmental management, paid staff, temporary workers, agency staff, trainees, partners or anyone working for and on behalf of ASQ Construction Services Limited.

The purpose of this policy:

  • to protect children, young and vulnerable people who receive ASQ Construction Services Limited’s services. This includes the children of adults who use our services;
  • to provide staff and volunteers with the overarching principles that guide our approach to safeguarding and child protection;

ASQ Construction Services Limited believes that a child, a young person or a vulnerable person should never experience abuse of any kind. We have a responsibility to promote the welfare of all children, young and vulnerable people and to keep them safe. We are committed to practice in a way that protects them.

LEGAL FRAMEWORK

This policy has been drawn up on the basis of law and guidance that seeks to protect children, young and vulnerable people, namely:

We recognise that:

  • the welfare of the child is paramount, as enshrined in the Children Act 1998
  • all persons, regardless of age, disability, gender, racial heritage, religious belief, sexual orientation or identity, have a right to equal protection from all types of harm or abuse
  • some persons are additionally vulnerable because of the impact of previous experiences, their level of dependency, communication needs or other issues
  • working in partnership with children, young people, vulnerable people, their parents, carers and other agencies (however the case may be) is essential in promoting learner’s welfare.

We will seek to keep learners safe by:

  • Valuing our learners, listening to and respecting all learners.
  • Protection and safeguarding practices through procedures and a code of conduct for staff and volunteers
  • Creating prevent awareness and ensuring any form of radicalization is recognized and challenged immediately.
  • Developing and implementing an effective policy and related procedures in dealing with allegations and concerns
  • Providing effective management for staff, volunteers and learners through supervision, support, adequate training and quality assurancemeasures
  • Recruiting and selecting staff, agents and representatives safely and in accordance with ASQ vetting process, ensuring all necessary checks are carried out and recorded.
  • Recording and storing information professionally and securely, and sharing information about safeguarding and good practice with learners, their representatives, our representatives and staff via leaflets, posters, electronically and via one-to-one discussions
  • Using our safeguarding procedures to share concerns and relevant information with agencies who need to know, and involving learners, young people, parents, families and carers appropriately.
  • using our procedures to manage any allegations against staff and volunteers appropriately
  • Creating and maintaining an anti—bullying environment and ensuring that we have a policy and procedure to help us deal effectively with any bullying that does arise
  • ensuring that we have an effective appeal and complaints procedure in place
  • ensuring that we provide a safe physical environment for our learners, young people, vulnerable people, staff and representatives, by applying health and safety measures in accordance with the law and regulatory guidance
