Level 3 Certificate In Assessing Vocational Achievement
The awarding organisation for this qualification is ProQual Awarding Body and the regulatory body is the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual).
The specification for these qualifications has been approved by Qualifications Wales for use by centres in Wales and by the Council for the Curriculum Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) for use by centres in Northern Ireland.
These qualifications have been accredited onto the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).
Intended Audience
This qualification is appropriate for candidates who assess both occupational competence in the work environment and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the workplace (such as workshops, classrooms or other training environments).
The Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) is for people that want the qualification to assess in the classroom or work environment.
The course consists of three units:
- Unit 1: Understanding the principles and practices of assessment – This unit will be covered and completed during the training and internally verified on the same day.
- Unit 2: Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding – The aim of this unit is to assess the candidate assessor’s performance in assessing vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the workplace, for example workshops, classrooms or other training environments.
- Unit 3: Assess occupational competence in the work environment – For this unit, the trainee assessor will be required to carrying out at least two assessments of two learners’ occupational competence. The trainee assessor is required to be observed by an IQA while carrying parts of the assessment of the second learner.
